Just off I-70 in Frisco, the Howard Head Clinic at Base Camp is the only physical therapy clinic in Summit County with certified hand therapists that specialize in hand, elbow, upper extremity injuries in addition to all other orthopedic and sports medicine needs.

Lauren Hammer

Lauren has been practicing in Occupational Therapy since 1996 where she graduated with a BS in Occupational Therapy from the Medical University of South Carolina. In 1998, she moved to Ogden, Utah and began her specialization in hand therapy. She achieved her CHT certification in 2002. She then moved and worked as a CHT in Chicago area for 2 years. She and her husband then again relocated, this time to Dallas, TX in 2005. She enjoyed 11 years there treating a variety of diagnoses and patients, including many professional athletes. She is greatly appreciative of the colleagues and patients that have enriched her diverse career and life. She and her husband and 3 children enjoy skiing, hiking, biking, and hockey, so she is very excited to be in the mountains and to have joined the wonderful Howard Head hand therapy group in May 2017.

Mary Leone

A Minnesota native, Mary received her occupational therapy degree from the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee. She became a certified hand therapist in 2002 and has spent much of her career working in a rural orthopaedic practice. Mary has developed many diverse practice skills in areas of hand therapy, spinal cord and head injury rehabilitation, and pediatric rehabilitation.

Carly Baker

Carly received her occupational therapy degree from Colorado State University. She began working at Howard Head Sports Medicine in 2000. Carly specializes in the treatment of upper extremity conditions. She received her advanced credentials in hand therapy in 2010 and recently completed her certification in ergonomic assessment.

Laura Watrous

Laura received her Master’s of Science Occupational Therapy degree from Colorado State University with a focus on neurological rehabilitation and lymphatic disorders earning CLT certification. Laura began working at Howard Head Sports Medicine in 2010 with a passion in treatment of upper extremity disorders and went on to receive her Certification in Hand Therapy in 2014. She continues to apply this scope of experiences to support and promote healing in individuals with upper extremity injuries or pain, orthopedic, and neurological injuries.

Andrea Shannon

Andrea joins our outpatient occupational therapy team from Newburgh, Indiana. She completed her bachelor’s degree in psychology in 1999 and her occupational therapy degree in 2004 from Indiana University. Andrea achieved her certification in hand therapy in 2010, joining a prestigious group of therapists with advanced credentials in the treatment of hand and upper extremity injuries. Most recently, she attained a certification in manual lymph drainage and works with post-operative swelling in both orthopaedic and cancer patients.

Sofija Phillips

Originally from the “Windy City” of Chicago, Sofija is a physical therapist, certified hand therapist, and director of elbow, wrist and hand therapy at Howard Head Sports Medicine. She received her master of physical therapy from Marquette University in 1999 and went on to specialize in the treatment of the upper extremity. She completed her certification in hand therapy in 2005. She then completed her certification in manual therapy through IAOM-US in 2013. Her passion is the treatment of upper extremity disorders using a manual therapy approach. Sofija has also been a teaching assistant in the physical therapy programs at both the University of Wisconsin and University of Colorado. Most recently, Sofija completed her certification in ergonomic assessment.

Kelly graduated in 1998 with her bachelor’s degree in occupational therapy from Saint Louis University and became a certified hand therapist in 2003. Specializing in post-operative static and dynamic splinting, Kelly joined HHSM in 2005 and has played an integral part in building the occupational therapy team. Her determination to help patients return to the sports they love is sparked by her own passion for athletics.

Anna Cotton is a Colorado native who received her undergraduate degree in family and consumer sciences and gerontology as well as her master’s degree in occupational therapy from Colorado State University. Anna has experience working as an occupational therapist in home health, acute care and outpatient hand therapy. In addition to her work with HHSM, Anna is a programs consultant for Can Do Multiple Sclerosis, a national nonprofit organization offering health and wellness education programs to people with MS and their families. In her free time, Anna enjoys the outdoor lifestyle Colorado has to offer with her husband and two daughters.

Shauna Ratcliff

Shauna grew up in Highlands Ranch, CO and attended the University of Wyoming, where she received her undergraduate degree in Kinesiology and Health Promotion in 2010. She was also a member of the division I swim team while at Wyoming. She earned her Masters of Science in occupational therapy from A.T. Still University in Arizona. Shauna has worked as an inpatient OT as well as a variety of pediatric settings including early intervention, outpatient and home health. Shauna has a passion for pediatric patients and her focus is to expand her expertise in the area of pediatrics. She is certified in SOS feeding, infant massage and kinesio taping. Shauna enjoys swimming, nordic skiing, biking and running with her husband and exploring the outdoors with her yellow lab, Ayla.
