Dr. Sasha Cyrelson, PT, DPT, OCS, Cert. LSVT BIG has been practicing physical therapy since 1996. She takes a holistic, hands-on, and proactive approach to her patients’ treatment. She is passionate about helping her patients alleviate their pain and return to the activities they enjoy.Dr. Cyrelson graduated cum laude with a BA from Russell Sage College in Creative Arts in Therapy (Dance). She earned her Master of Physical Therapy degree (1996) and later her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree (2006) from Temple University. Following graduation, she was recruited by Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia. Looking to expand her skills, she left Philadelphia to work as a travelling physical therapist. Through working in the different units at Pennsylvania Hospital, her cross country experience, and working with a wide range of age groups, ailments, and settings throughout her career, Dr. Cyrelson developed an evidence based treatment approach combining manual therapy, appropriate exercises, and patient education that quickly return her patients to optimal health and minimizes risk for future injury.Dr. Cyrelson is recognized by the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) as an Orthopedic Clinical Specialist (OCS) and is also a credentialed clinical instructor through the APTA. Sasha is a Mastery Certified Manual Therapist (MCMT) and is recognized as a specialty provider for Parkinson's disease and movement disorders by her certification in LSVT BIG, which is an innovative and clinically-proven method for improving mobility and function in individuals with Parkinson disease, as well as aging and other conditions. She is also certified in treatment of Vestibular and Balance disorders, including BPPV.Dr. Cyrelson has successfully served as director for over 20 years in private orthopedic clinics and for 8 years had been the director of rehabilitation services for two hospitals in upstate New York. In 2011, Dr. Cyrelson relocated to NJ from upstate NY with her husband and 2 children.Dr. Cyrelson has been involved in dance (ballet, jazz, modern) since the age of 5. She danced through college, graduate school, and beyond. Her personal experience as a dancer coupled with her undergraduate training gives her a unique insight into the special rehabilitative needs of those in dance, gymnastics, and related disciplines.Sasha is an avid skier and returns to the Catskills as often as possible to ski with her children and family.
