Dr. Rebecca Cannizzaro PT, DPT is a 2020 graduate of Slippery Rock University, where she earned both her BS in Exercise Science followed by her Doctorate in Physical Therapy. While at Slippery Rock University she was able to develop her knowledge through clinical research whilst increasing her focus on manual therapy to improve patient recovery and overall quality of life. As a new team member at Total Performance Physical Therapy, Dr. Cannizzaro is extremely passionate about the opportunity to begin the journey to recovery alongside her patients. Rebecca’s interest in physical therapy was inspired during her athletic career as a competitive gymnast and avid runner. As a result of being an athlete, she experienced various injuries exposing her to the significant benefits of physical therapy. Overall health, wellness and fitness continue to be an essential source of passion for Dr. Cannizzaro which she hopes to empower her patients to embrace.

Wayne Burkholtz, DPT received his doctorate in Physical Therapy from Widener University. Wayne has spent his career in outpatient orthopedics and specializes in manual therapy. Wayne’s interest in physical therapy began after an athletic injury in high school. During his time at Widener, Wayne served as part of the student board that created the country’s first student-led pro bono physical therapy clinic. Wayne still serves as a member of the Advisory Board for the clinic as well as an adjunct professor at Widener. Wayne takes a personal interest in each of his patients and helping them to reach their goals. To ensure the best ability to support his patients, Wayne attends classes to help him stay current on treatment techniques. Wayne is currently certified in dry needling and fascia movement taping. He is also trained in the McKenzie method of Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy (MDT), McConnell Taping, Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Massage, and Pose Running.
