Emma Codman earned her Doctorate in Physical Therapy and Bachelor of Science in Rehabilitation Science, with a Psychology concentration, from Northeastern University, where she graduated with honors. While at Northeastern, she researched cardiovascular health in dancers with the Alvin Ailey Dance Company and also served as part of the leadership team for “Relay for Life,” which raised funds for the American Cancer Society. She has treated patients of all ages and gained clinical experience in orthopedic rehabilitation, dance medicine rehabilitation, and pediatrics. While completing a 14-week clinical program focused on women’s health, she also gained experience treating patients with pelvic floor dysfunction and pain. She has received her Herman and Wallace Pelvic Floor Level 1 certification and is a member of the APTA Section on Women’s Health. Emma was a dancer while growing up and first became passionate about physical therapy via her own experiences with post-injury rehabilitation. She enjoys helping patients get back to doing what they love and aims to use physical therapy as a means of empowering them to be confident in themselves and their bodies. In her free time, Emma enjoys traveling, exploring New York City, finding new and delicious places to eat, cooking new recipes, and staying active through running, yoga, and weight training.

Marivi earned her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Rutgers University, where she had the opportunity to work with diverse patient populations throughout acute, sub-acute, home health, and outpatient settings. Prior to that, Marivi graduated Magna Cum Laude from Kean University with a Bachelor of Arts in Biology and a minor in Health Education.Throughout her clinical experiences, Marivi has worked with patients of all ages with various orthopedic, cardiac, and neurologic conditions. Her clinical interests include orthopedics, sports rehabilitation, and injury prevention. Marivi’s passion for physical therapy stems from her background in dance. Her experience performing, competing and teaching has taught her the importance of optimizing movement in order to maximize patient performance. She is dedicated to helping her patients reach their full potential and promoting total mind and body wellness. Marivi continues seeking out educational opportunities to enhance her skills in manual techniques and functional training in order to provide her patients with the best care possible.Born and raised in New Jersey, Marivi has always enjoyed being immersed in city life. Michael Virgile is the Clinical Director of SPEAR’s Upper West Side – W 75th Street location. Mike earned his Doctorate in Physical Therapy and Bachelor’s degree in Rehabilitation Science from Northeastern University graduating with magna cum laude honors. His clinical experience includes orthopedics, rehabilitation, and sports medicine. Michael is also a certified personal trainer and a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist. During his time at Northeastern, Michael was an avid soccer player for the men’s club team for five years, and co-captained the team during his senior year. Michael has treated at several orthopedic and sports-based clinics across the country, including an 11-week affiliation with the Indiana Pacers basketball team. Michael’s clinical interests include manual therapy, instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization (IASTM), and Maitland mobilizations. Outside of the clinic, Michael’s interests and hobbies include playing soccer, strength training, running, NFL football, and staying up-to-date on the latest health and fitness innovations. His interest in sports medicine and focus on helping others achieve their rehabilitation goals has brought him from Boston to SPEAR PT, where he is excited to help his patients improve their function and health.

Aimee earned her Doctorate of Physical Therapy degree from the University of Delaware, where she also received her Master’s degree in Anatomy and Clinical Health Science. Prior to receiving her Doctorate, She attended the University of Delaware and received her Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science. Throughout her Doctoral program and clinical affiliations, Aimee had the opportunity to work with a multitude of patient populations including acute care, inpatient rehabilitation, outpatient neurology & geriatrics, and outpatient sports & orthopedics. These experiences have not only enhanced Aimee’s knowledge of functional movement, manual therapy and the overall rehabilitation process, but have driven her passion towards helping her patients reach their goals. She strives to stay up to date with the constantly evolving field of physical therapy so she can provide her patients with the best level of care. Aimee grew up in Baltimore, Maryland and is excited to begin exploring New York City. In her spare time, she enjoys visiting new neighborhoods, exercising, hiking, and researching/trying new restaurants.

Jason Kang received his Doctorate in Physical Therapy and his Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science from the University of Scranton. Jason participated in various collegiate intramural sports and was a member of the Men’s Club Volleyball team. Also at Scranton, he participated in a number of charity events, including a service trip to Arizona working with children with neurological disorders. He gained valuable experience in orthopedics and neurological rehabilitation through his rotations. Jason decided to become a physical therapist because he wanted to provide a more direct, hands-on approach to treatment for patients of all ages. Being an athlete all of his life he has a great understanding of the various injuries that can occur throughout the lifespan. Jason also has a special interest in the Pediatric population where he aims to create a fun and focused environment that is engaging for children during their rehabilitation. Lastly, Jason is a TPI (Titleist Performance Institute) certified expert, which allows him to perform golf swing analysis on his patients. During his free time, Jason continues to stay active with competitive basketball and leisure golf. He enjoys trying new things, traveling, and spending time with family, friends, and his dog Zoey.

Benjamin Kraus earned his Doctorate in Physical Therapy and Bachelors in Clinical Health Studies with a minor in Nutrition Promotion from Ithaca College. Benjamin’s clinical experience includes orthopedics, sports medicine, neurological rehabilitation and pediatrics. Currently, Ben is working towards his certification as a Strength and Conditioning Specialist. During his tenure at Ithaca College, Ben participated in several clinical research projects, including projects pertaining to Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) rehabilitation and a rare variation of Guillain-Barre Syndrome (GBS). In fact, in 2017, he had the honor of presenting the GBS case report at the annual Combined Sections Meeting, the largest physical therapy conference in the country. Ben participated on the Ithaca College Men’s Club Baseball Team, worked as a Home Healthcare Aide for a teenager with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy and studied abroad for a semester in Barcelona, Spain. Benjamin’s interest in the physical therapy profession began in his early teens, when he volunteered at Children’s Specialized Hospital. His interest in becoming a physical therapist peaked after his sister underwent two ACL reconstructions and several of his close family members had to endure extensive physical therapy from debilitating injuries. Ben’s clinical interests include working with athletes, of all ages and levels, pre and post-operative conditions, and musculoskeletal diagnoses utilizing manual therapy & therapeutic exercise. His rehabilitation philosophy is to empower his patients to reach their rehabilitation goals and to become increasingly independent in self-managing their conditions. Ben’s interests and hobbies, outside of the clinic, include sports, both participating and spectating, running, strength training, traveling, cooking, and nutrition.

Julia earned her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Columbia University and her Bachelor’s degree in Applied Physiology and Kinesiology from the University of Florida. While completing her Bachelor’s degree, Julia served as an intern at the rehabilitation center for University of Florida athletes, working as a Personal Trainer and performing as a competitive dancer. During her clinical rotations, Julia gained experience treating patients of all ages with various orthopedic conditions. Julia’s interest in physical therapy is rooted in her passion for promoting balanced lifestyles. She collaborates with her patients to create individualized, realistic treatment plans to help her patients meet their goals. She aims to give her patients the education and tools they need to independently manage their conditions and prevent re-injury. One of Julia’s interests is studying the preventative role physical therapists have on the pediatric population. Julia completed advanced pediatric coursework at Columbia and presented her research on Physical Therapy Management of Childhood Obesity at the 2020 Academy of Pediatric Physical Therapy Annual Conference. Julia also attended service trips to Guatemala and Haiti, where she had the opportunity to treat underserved pediatrics with neurological and orthopedic diagnoses. When she is not at clinic, you can find Julia staying active running by the Hudson River and practicing yoga. Julia always makes time for her favorite hobbies like going to the farmer’s market, trying new Italian restaurants, and celebrating life with family and friends.
